In the Spring of 2018, senior Emily Fabiszewski recognized students at the University of Pittsburgh were lacking a space where they could write about and for themselves. With the goal of creating a community based off of creativity and shared experiences, she founded Studio Four One Two, Pitt’s first blog and magazine club. For two years prior to COVID, the club created two magazines and dozens of blog posts based on pop-culture, fashion, and life as a college student.
Post-COVID the club struggled to find its place back on campus. In the Spring of 2021, Belle O’Hara became president and began to shift the club back to its original purpose: to create a safe place for students to create. After rebranding, becoming more active on Instagram, forming a passionate e-board, and creating goals for another magazine, Studio Four One Two re-established itself as a top club at Pitt. In only 5 semesters, Studio Four One Two gained over 1,200 followers, created 100 blog posts, maintained 50 active members, held 4 Thriftswaps, designed 4 merch items, and published 2 magazines. We have also been featured in the Pitt News and Pitt to the Point.
Here, at Studio Four One Two, we want to hear your voice. Whether that is through writing, photography, illustration, magazine spread designs, or editing, we all have a common goal of creating work that we are passionate and excited about. Regardless if you have written or designed 100 or zero works, we hope that you will trust us to be your platform for creativity.
Are you a Pitt student interested in joining us? We would love to have you at one of our weekly meetings at 9 pm on Mondays in 239 Cathedral of Learning!
You can join as many as you are interested in - no prior experience necessary!
Any Studio Four One Two member is able to write pieces for our blog, regardless of committee affiliation.
